MISSION STATEMENT

  • As Peace Seekers, we strive to create peace within ourselves, our families, our neighborhoods, and, ultimately, the world community.

  • Respecting diversity, we aspire to live in harmony with the earth and all sentient beings. In this spirit, we seek to promote non-violent resolution of conflict rather than resorting to war. This includes working to convert war-making resources into those that build peace by meeting the basic material needs of all people on the earth without harming the web of life of which we are a part.

  • We cooperate with other peace-seeking groups to increase public-awareness of the philosophy and strategies of non-violence and to create psychological, social, economic, and spiritual conditions for peace.

  • Because world peace requires a shift from blind economic growth to the creation of a sustainable equitable society, we choose to focus our energies particularly on the education of youth, knowing that in them lies our hope that one day peace will be established throughout the world, and war will be no more.

Join Us on the Winter Solstice--

For A Peace Vigil at the Peace Pole

Please join us at the Peace Pole at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 21 for a Peace Vigil.  Bring a shielded candle to light.  We will share thoughts, prayers, poetry, and songs for peace.

We will do a "go-around."  It will work like this:  We will form a single circle around the peace pole.  Then we will "go around" the circle to give each a chance to say his or her words.  You may say a prayer, read a verse, or share a thought on peace.  If you have nothing planned to say, you can simply say, "May Peace Prevail on Earth."  Then we move on to the next person.  We'll end with our minister, Sara, who will provide the closing benediction.
